Barnyardgrass specific control – Protecting the rice field

Barnyardgrass is a weedy grass. There are two common species:  Echinochloa crus- galli L. and Echinochloa colonum L.

In the rice field, Barnyardgrass grow vigorously and is strong competitor for light and nutrition as well. It will affect seriously the rice plant growth and cause the significant yield losses.

On the other hand, Barnyardgrass is also like secondary host for diseases of rice (rice sheath blight, bacterial leaf blight, etc.). In harvesting, weed seeds contaminate rough rice, thus reducing grain quality and market value.

Barnyardgrass is one of the most difficult controlled weed in the rice field. Although applying herbicide in several times, some rice field still was observed the amount of escaped barnyardgrass.

To prevent the weed infestation in general and barnyardgrass especially, farmer need to apply the integrated weed management such as: careful land preparation and leveling, using the certificated rice seeds, good water management and using herbicide with “4 right” principle.

MPS would like to introduce a barnyardgrass specific controlled herbicide: EKILL 37 WG

Application timing in seeded rice field is 7 – 10 day after sowing.

  • Dosage: 40 g/ 1000 m2
  • Available and easier to tank – mix with other herbicides to have broad spectrum efficacy.
  • Ekill 37WG is very safe for rice

EKILL kills Barnyardgrass, farmer resolve the laborious work.
